Piccolo Spoleto- A Concert of Reflection
Event Details
June 6 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In the chaos of modern life, we can all benefit from an hour of basking in an oasis of calm. The chorus provides you this opportunity by presenting a concert of reflection under the baton of our new artistic director, Nicholas Quardokus. The program for this Piccolo Spoleto concert includes:
- Agnus Dei-Samuel Barber, a choral setting of his Adagio for Strings
- Lux Aeterna-William Elgar, a choral setting of Nimrod from his Enigma Variations, arranged by John Cameron
- Mass in G-Franz Schubert, with soprano, tenor, bass solos, and string players from the Charleston Symphony.
- The Road Home– Stephen Paulus, with soprano solo.
June 6 is the anniversary of D-Day, when the Allied invasion of Normandy began to turn the tide of World War 2. The Agnus Dei and Lux Aeterna are in remembrance of the many sacrifices on that fateful day.
